Ohio hunting license info and more
- How much are license and tags in Ohio?
- The Ohio non-resident hunting license costs only $180.96. Either-sex deer tag is $76.96, and antlerless tags are $24 each. This means you can harvest both a buck and a doe for only $258! Ohio is one of the cheapest non-resident states to hunt, with MUCH cheaper license and permit fees than many other states in the Midwest.
- Are Ohio license and tags sold over the counter?
- Yes. You DO NOT have to put in for a lottery to draw tags to hunt with us. Just call us at (740) 398-6399
- Can I use a crossbow during the archery season?
- Yes. You can use a crossbow anytime during regular archery season.
- How high are your stands?
- We have a variety of stand locations, as well as ground blinds. For the hardcore bowhunter, our stands are typically between 20-25 feet. We also utilize ladder stands and lower hanging stands in the 12-16 foot range for those who prefer to hunt closer to the ground.
- Can I harvest does?
- Yes. Each hunter may harvest up to two does during their hunt. You will have MULTIPLE opportunities to harvest does!
- Are additional references available?
- Yes. We don’t hand select which references to send you. We can actually provide you with the contact information of ALL of our hunters that have been through camp. At Brushy Fork Outfitters, we have nothing to hide, and take great pride in our client satisfaction.
- Can we check out your outfit during non-hunting months?
- Absolutely! We welcome you to schedule a visit to BFO headquarters. We will take you to some of our many private leases and show you what makes us the best outfitter in Ohio!
- Can you accommodate handicapped hunters?
- Yes. We will use Polaris Ranger crew cabs to take you directly to your blind.
- Can I use expandable broadheads?
- Yes. Although we prefer fixed blade broadheads, you may use whatever broadhead you like. All we ask is that you are confident in your equipment and practice shooting regularly.
- Are the deer free-ranging?
- YES! Absolutely no high fences here! We are a 100% fair chase outfitter.
- Will I have to pay a fine for shooting a buck scoring less than 140 inches?
- Yes. Our goal for clients is to harvest MATURE bucks. With this, a 140-inch antler minimum is implemented and enforced on ALL of our farms. Shooting a substandard buck will result in a $1,000 fine. Only by BFO’s discretion will some leeway be considered. This fine is not about making money and alienating customers; it’s about growing the kind of bucks our customers want to shoot. We’d be happiest if nobody were fined, period. With that said, each year, many of our farms hold a few fully-mature bucks whose antlers do not reach the desired 140” requirement. Some are simply smart, old warriors who've survived over the years and are on the decline antler-wise. Others may be genetically inferior to our management goals. Most often, our guides will inform hunters of the presence of these management bucks, in which they are welcome to harvest without penalty. Again, a mature buck is the goal! The only exception is that we do NOT impose antler restrictions for our youth hunters.
- What type of treestands do you use?
- At Brushy Fork Outfitters, we exclusively use Millennium Treestands. We feel that these are the most comfortable stands on the market. After all, the more time you can spend in the tree, the more successful you’ll be in the deer woods!
- Do you process and package deer at Brushy Fork Outfitters?
- No. We will field dress your deer and take it to our local processor. The charge for processing and packaging your deer is $85.
- Do you allow your guides to hunt your properties?
- No. At Brushy Fork Outfitters, our leased land is for clients only.
